Joanna C. Funke is an associate in the firm's Family Law Department. Her diverse family law experience enables her to handle all aspects of family law matters, including dissolution, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, domestic violence, complex, high-asset matters, and post-judgment matters. She is a member of the State Bar of California, as well as the San Mateo County Bar Association, Santa Clara County Bar Association, and Contra Costa County Bar Association. Ms. Funke currently serves on the Board of the San Mateo County Bar Association Women Lawyers' Section.
Ms. Funke received her Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School in May 2013, earning the National Association of Women Outstanding Law Graduate Award as well as the President's Volunteer Service Award. While in law school, she participated in the Domestic Violence Project and Family Justice Litigation clinics, providing pro bono services to victims of domestic violence.
After law school, Ms. Funke served as a Law Fellow for a nonprofit domestic violence organization in Washington, D.C. and then as a Law Clerk for two Child Abuse and Neglect judges at the D.C. Superior Court. While clerking, she gained valuable insight into the fact-finder's position and continued to work in highly confidential, emotional, and complex matters. After moving back to the west coast, she worked as an associate attorney for two small family law firms in the Bay Area. Prior to entering the legal field, Ms. Funke worked in the contracts and financing departments of a government contractor and leasing company.
Ms. Funke earned her Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005. She enjoys cooking, singing with the Menlo Park Chorus, and exploring the bay area through hiking in her free time.
